That said, I don't believe the 125 grain I use is designed to have the desired terminal effects at 200 yards. Load some rounds, buy some rounds, play with the numbers. However, you should actually test this for yourself. At close BG distances, you can assume that the sub will be not far off that mark. When running the number for the 125 grain Nosler (which I use for hunting), assuming a rough average of 2200 fps and a 200 yard zero, you will be roughly 2 inches high at 50 yards. I'm not really sure I agree with that method, but whatever works for you. However, you also state you want BG zeros. That won't take you zero out to 200 though, more like 135-150.

With gas tamped down a suppressed 5.56/223 is much more fun to shoot.I don't think you're going to find exactly what you're looking for. For coyote and fox size critters the trajectory of the subsonic 300 is workable to about 75yds, imo.
It makes a good second rifle for a predator hunt, where you and your bud swap close range duty and longer range duty by swapping a 5.56/223 and a 300BLK. Subsonic 300BLK is very quiet and not a heck of a lot louder than a 22lr pistol or semi auto rifle. The not very significant noise difference between a 16" and 10.5" 5.56/223 isn't worth dealing with the extra length of a suppressed 16".įwiw, the 50gr VMaxes work great on coyotes and foxes out of 10.5" 5.56/223.
The noise difference between super 300 and 5.56 isn't worth the loss in performance or increase in cost of shooting for the primary rifle. Stick with the 5.56/223 as the primary rifle for predator hunting.
